This came to mind on last Wednesday when I was watching “Life in a Year” starring Jaden Smith that was released in November 2020 on Amazon Prime. The movie follows 17-year-old, Daryn, who finds out that his girlfriend is dying. He sets out to give her an entire life in the last year she has left.

The movie evoked so many emotions in me. I reflected over my relationships with the people in my life as well as my own life. I thought about what if it was one of my daughters last day, what was the last thing that I said to them? What if it was my last day, did I do all that I wanted to do? Do I have things in order to ensure that they don’t have to worry about things or carry baggage from my life into their own?

What if today was your last day? Have you treated the most important people in your life right or do you need to apologize and make mends with those people? Do you have life insurance? If not, you need to add this to your list of immediate things to do. There are very affordable policies out here. The key is to make sure that you have the right type of policy, whole life vs term life and understanding the difference. Are you just working to live? Take time to do something for yourself even if it’s just a walk in the park (free), a mini vacation you’ve been wanting to take (checkout Groupon, Travelzoo, and Living Social for discount deals), or even a staycation.

Someday it will be your last day. Choose to live today!

There is no doubt. So far, nearly everyone that was born has died.  What will your legacy be? At that point it will be too late. But today is YOUR day. Set some goals and start moving toward them today.
