“Trust the Process”
I know that you’ve heard or read these scriptures before. Hebrews 11:1, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen; Romans 10:17, “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Do you often wonder what they mean or have you really taken time to break them down and see how they apply to your life right now?
Well, I did for my own personal life and the season that I am in right now. Let’s start with the first scripture. Hebrews 11:1, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. I am a visionary and I dream a lot and often find myself in dazes, at times, imagining what life is going to be like one day. I get excited, sometimes dancing, other times just saying “thank you Jesus”, other times making my favorite noise “whoop whoop” as my confirmation that I receive what I just imagined…and then, something comes up to try to take that in which I just got excited about. Beit, my windshield on my truck gets a streaked crack overnight out of nowhere because I wasn’t under or around any trees nor was it parked outside, or something comes up with one of the girls that now take precedence over me getting into the groove of game planning, or a mandatory meeting that wasn’t on your calendar is within the next hour and you planned to spend that hour working on creative content, you get the gist. Something keeps coming up or happening that is out of your control that takes time away from that vision or the excitement you once had now just fades away because your current reality sets in and your temperament changes because the visions you had just seems so far fetched now. Visions of debt free and you just got a doctor’s bill in; Visions of driving that Porsche and your Honda’s transmission just went out; Visions of owning that business and you just got laid off from your job; Visions of that brick house body (ladies), yes, the 36-24-36 and then you get a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes. All of that happening and this scripture comes back to mind.
To me, this scripture is saying to continue to affirm what you see and don’t allow temporary situations to take away what you’ve been believing for, what you’ve been trusting God for. Don’t allow doubt into your equation because as soon as you do, it begins to delay the process. One thing that I have learned, nothing lasts forever. Seasons do change. Faith is what has gotten me through life and continues to keep me motivated to keep pushing and trusting my own process. Daily I do at least 3 affirmations and tell myself that no matter what, today is going to be a good day. If something challenging happens, I am human so I do waddle in that situation for a minute, but then I tell myself, this must be part of the process for God to work a miracle or something better is going to come and sometimes I say I guess it wasn’t meant for me RIGHT NOW. Sometimes, you really have to "encourage yourself" and push through whatever you’re going through. Keep your eyes on the prize and remember who you are, who’s you are (a king’s kid; royalty), and that you are worthy of everything that you want and need!
Romans 10:17, “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. I’ve learned how to quiet my mind through meditation practices. It helps you to cancel all of the outside/inside noise (in your head). When I quiet my mind, I am able to hear from God just as clear as talking to one of my friends. The other source is reading the Word of God (whatever your spiritual/religious book of choice is as I am not here to debate or talk religion) or listening to a message on YouTube. This scripture speaks volumes to me because when I am going through my ups/downs, God speaks to me many of times through hearing a message, angel numbers (I’ll save for a later conversation), some of those old songs I would sing in the youth choir or hear my momma playing like "Hold to God's Unchanging Hand" , "He Won't Let You Down", "Order My Steps". These and other songs have brought me through some of the toughest times in my life. I had to know the Word in order to apply it.
My message for today is “Trust the Process”. Don’t give up on your dreams, goals, and aspirations. Seasons will and do change. They did for me and they will for you. Keep going, you’ll soon realize that you were creating purpose from within and will begin living your Purposed Life!
