The Power of Affirmations
For the entire month of October and the 1st day of November, I went live on Instagram to share positive affirmations each night. This shaped a new space for many of us. I can only speak for myself that it showed me that I have the power to be consistent in something if I put my mind to it. It also made me accountable to my followers to make sure that I was on every night at 9pm EST no matter where I was or what I was doing.
In doing these affirmations, it changed my life. It made me focus on positive things around me daily, even when things got a little hectic, and it showed me that I can speak life over any situation in my life and that if I believed it, it could happen.
So just how does this work? For those that weren’t able to join my lives each night, I began with making sure that you cleared your mind to give it a clear path. Once that was done, it was for us to speak the affirmation, feel the affirmation (imagine what it would be like), believe that the affirmation is possible, and then prepare for the affirmation to manifest. I received calls, texts, and DMs about good things happening in people’s lives, as they were with mines. Job promotions, pay raises, new opportunities, healing mentally and physically, hope, unforeseen checks/money, new connections and relationships, closure to negative things, and so much more. Here are a few scriptures that goes along with this principle:
“Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not yet seen” Hebrews 11:1-3
God …..”calleth those things which be not as though they were”. (KJV) Romans 4:17
“….faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God”. Romans 10:17
“…But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Hebrews 11:6
In reading the article by Maya Khamala on Goalcast website, The Power of Positive Affirmations - Goalcast, she noted that research supports the idea that the words we choose matter, and that the way we talk to ourselves matter. A strong positive affirmation can help you reduce stress, and even increase the neural pathways in your brain.
Louise Hay, an author and known as one of the founders of the self-help movement, she says that “saying affirmations is only part of the process. What you do the rest of the day and night is even more important. The secret to having your affirmations work quickly and consistently is to prepare an atmosphere for them to grow in. Affirmations are like seeds planted in soil. Poor soil, poor growth. Rich soil, abundant growth. The more you choose to think thoughts that make you feel good, the quicker the affirmations work.” The Power of Affirmations (louisehay.com).
